Getting Involved
Smiths Gully Landcare welcomes you to get involved and connect with our community and environment.
Our Landcare Group offers individuals a unique opportunity to contribute to environmental conservation while fostering a sense of community. Participating in hands-on projects such as tree planting, weed control, and habitat restoration allows members to directly impact their local ecosystem.
These activities promote biodiversity and enhance the health of the landscape, which is particularly important in the face of climate change and habitat loss.
Being part of a Landcare Group connects individuals with like-minded people who share a passion for the environment. It provides an avenue for learning about sustainable practices and ecological management from experienced members and professionals.
Getting involved with Landcare can also lead to the development of valuable employment skills, strengthen community ties, and inspire others to take action toward environmental stewardship.
Engaging with a Landcare Group is not only beneficial for the environment but also enriches personal well-being through social connection and shared purpose.
There are many ways to contribute to our group either big or small. Attending community planting day, taking photos in nature, or simply take the time to spread the word about Landcare in your area to help support and enhance Smiths Gully Landcare initiatives.
Your involvement, no matter how small, can make a significant difference in promoting environmental stewardship and fostering a healthy ecosystem for all.

Amazing Activities we do…
Weed Control - Weed control in natural bush areas involves carefully managing unwanted plant species to restore and maintain the ecological balance. By removing invasive weeds, we can support indigenous flora and promote biodiversity, ensuring that these environments thrive naturally while providing valuable habitat for local wildlife. It is a meaningful way to engage with the land and contribute to the health of our ecosystems.
Revegetation - Revegetation in natural bush areas can be a fun, engaging, and rewarding activity, allowing participants to foster a deeper connection with nature while helping to effectively restore important habitats and promote biodiversity in their local ecosystems.
Night Walks - Night walks are an enjoyable way to discover unique biodiversity, as the cooler temperatures and darkness encourage a range of native animals to emerge that might otherwise stay concealed during daylight hours.
Wildflower Walks - Join our wildflower walks to explore the beauty and diversity of native plants and orchids. Deepen your connection to the local ecosystem, get inspiration for your garden and learn about our pollinators.
Social Working Bees - Smiths Gully Landcare value having social aspects to each event. Making sure there is always time to chat, laugh and enjoy some light refreshments.
